North Huon and North Hobart form partnership

After initial discussions, the North Hobart Cricket Club and North Huon Cricket Club have agreed form a partnership in a move to improve pathways for cricketers between the HCCA and TCA.

This was seen as a natural progression after a number of the younger North Huon players have been involved with the North Hobart Cricket Club in recent years, including Adam Crowe, Mathew Bantick, Eden and Lyndon Ragus, Shane Fletcher and Brad Bell, and also former players such as Mark Bowerman and Tim Rumney.

This partnership will see the North Hobart Cricket Club make available senior players to come down to the North Huon Cricket Club to assist with both senior and underage training, as well as hosting the North Huon Cricket Club for training sessions at their base at the TCA ground on the Domain.

Additionally, practise matches have been pencilled in for North Huon 1st Grade v North Hobart 2nd Grade at Ranelagh, and North Huon Under 17s and North Hobart Under17s at Glen Huon on Saturday, October 9.

“We hope that this initiative from both clubs will provide a smoother pathway for those players from the North Huon area that wish to further their cricket in the TCA.” said Steve Jewell, secretary of the North Hobart Cricket Club.

“This partnership will be great for both clubs, and particularly the exposure that the younger players in the North Huon area will get to State level cricketers will be of great benefit for their development” said Marcus Raine of the North Huon Cricket Club.

Both Club had successful years last year, with North Huon capturing the HCCA 1st Grade flag by 1 run, and North Hobart having a stellar year, winning the TCA 1st Grade Premiership, the statewide Kookaburra Cup, and the TCA Twenty20 title ,as well as being joint winners of the statewide Twenty20 competition.

Training is already well under way for the North Huon Cricket Club – anyone interested in becoming involved is welcome to come along to the Glen Huon ground on Tuesday, or the Ranelagh ground on Thursday from 6pm.
